Friday 17 February: Denmark

We walk to Ocean Beach and watch the surfers play on the waves. We manage a bit of body surfing, yoga and skipping on the sand as well! It’s a bit cloudy today which gives us some respite from the sun. Back for showers and smartening up as we’re going out for lunch! We drive in to Denmark and park up the van. A nice Flat White at Mrs Jones Cafe and a bit of tabbing around the local shops. No purchases! A 5 minute drive to Pepper and Salt a restaurant in Forest Hill winery just on the outskirts recommended in our guide book. Lovely setting overlooking fields and forests we have a memorable meal. I choose well with grilled octopus and spiced barramundi curry. Simon perhaps chooses less well with a rather skinny spiny crab although his starter of Marron, a local freshwater crayfish, is delicious. A glass (or 2 for me!) of wine from the winery is also a good combo. We call in at the Visitor Centre on our way home and get some tips for some walking trails for tomorrow. Another quick blast on the beach, now more windy, before pre prandials and some more itinerary planning.
