Saturday 4 February: Perth to Fremantle

 Nice breakfast on the Alex terrace before we get a taxi to the Maui depot to pick up the van. It’s cloudy and humid getting up to 38C later. We drive to our site near Fremantle: Woodman Point Discovery Park via Coles  supermarket and adjacent liquor store for provisions. 

We arrive in the absolute heat of the day which doesn’t help our jet lag! We head down to the beach and have our first dip in the Indian Ocean. Next landfall must be somewhere on the tip of South Africa. . Crushingly hot in the sun so we head off the beach to relax under the shade of some trees which are home to some very loud rose breasted cockatoos. The sun begins to fade and we head back to the beach. . A huge pelican wanders along the jetty where the locals fish.

Suitably refreshed we head back for some chilled WA white wine sitting outside the van.
