Thursday 09 February Yallingup to Margaret River.

Another bright sunny day with dawn chorus of screeching corvids. The chatty Englishman finds us and rather worryingly sits down and I wonder how we will get rid of him. I’m fact our itinerary is looking good now so we don’t really need his help.

Down to the beach for a swim and then we drive off up to the lighthouse at the point of Cape Naturaliste. As lighthouses go it’s ok I suppose though on the short side  and the view of the Indian Ocean is huge.

Then we drive to Stormflower vineyard a small 8 hectare holding. I am driving the beast so I sip water whilst C imbibes. Picnic in the shade by the van after some purchases.

We arrive at Margaret River campsite early afternoon and after negotiating the van into an awkward pitch we head off into town and book some bikes for tomorrow so I can sample the wines as well!

In the evening we eat at Mikki’s tempura/Japanese restaurant. Plate after plate of tiny morsels of ever complicated ingredients with very detailed hard to follow descriptions of what they all are. Nice wines. Back late with head torch to light the way. Orion’s Belt upside down in the sky.
