Wednesday 01 March

There are green parrots clomping around on the roof of the van at 6. Although it’s been 33C during the day the night was pleasantly cool so there was condensation on the van roof which the parrots hoovered up before the rising sun evaporated it.

I walk to the wave rock early and the wind is swishing through the sheoaks and as there is no one around it’s very tranquil.

We head off along endless straight roads through the wheat nest and the salmon gums. We arrive at York in time for a café lunch and chat to a Aussie about NZ and the problems it has been having recently. Thn we mooch around town. It’s very hot and still , 35C.

We get to the campsite just outside town and after a cup of tea decide that we might as well press on nearer Perth . It’s not the nicest site. We are very hot, there are lots of ants and flies and we’re not sure what we will do for the rest of the day as the site is in the middle of nowhere. So we travel for another hour and get to Big 4 Midland Perth just after 5.

We are nearer to Cervantes now and enjoy a peaceful evening  outside. A dip in the pool cools us down momentarily.
